The symbolism of Shankha & Chakra

The Shankha (conch) and Chakra (discus) are two of the most iconic symbols in Hindu iconography, especially associated with Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe. The primordial sound Om is believed to emanate from the shankha. It represents the origin of creation and the cosmic vibration. The shankha is considered sacred because it is the dwelling place of both Vishnu and Lakshmi. Vishnu holding the shankha in his upper left hand signifies his role as the upholder of dharma.

The rotating chakra represents the cycle of creation and destruction, and the eternal flow of time.Vishnu’s Sudarshana Chakra is a divine weapon that destroys evil and restores balance. It symbolizes strategic action and divine justice.

Lighting a Diya as a daily Ritual

Lighting a Diya is the purest form of offering to the deity.  In every Hindu home, a lamp or Diya is lit every day in pooja room, near Tulsi plant and at the entrance of the house for auspiciousness. Lighting the diya half an hour before sunrise aligns our inner light with the rising sun, symbolizing awakening and renewal. It’s a way to begin our day with intention, clarity, and spiritual grounding. Dev kaal or Brahma mahurat (4 am to 6 am) is considered the most auspicious to light a diya and get charged with divine energies every day.

As an Indian Traditional Home Décor

Lighting a diya is a direct invitation for divine energies to reside in your space. Lighting a Diya brings blessings of the divine and spreads positive energy in the environment.

This ritual of lighting a lamp every evening can serve as a quiet moment to let go of worries, regrets or mental fatigue It marks the shift from work mode to rest, helping the mind unwind and reset
